The GF Text Adventure

(didn't we try to make one of these?)
(click-replace: "didn't we try to make one of these?")[then it just devolved into making out. as most things do]
(click-replace: "then it just devolved into making out. as most things do")[[[begin->Intro]]]It is the 2nd of June. You are Elena Clare Merican, sitting on the balcony of your apartment and generally pleased with life.
In about an hour, your girlfriend is coming home from work, at which point you will give her a very special gift[[—->?]][[Where is it?->Balcony]]
Balcony

Plants populate your balcony not unlike small children. Some delinquently sprawl over the edge of the banister. Others sit cutely in a row of [[pots->Row of pots]]. A network of tubes converges in a water tank, its little automated system ensuring your plants' continued survival. Smiley faces have been drawn on it to show that it is a friend. The box next to it is [[not->Not a friend]].
Behind you, beyond the tight mesh of the mosquito net, lies the [[living room->Living Room]].Toph the cactus prickles to herself in the corner. June, a candy pink rose, beams in the sunlight. And of course, there is Alpha, Beta and Gamma Plant (a triplet of spider plants), their long, thin leaves dangling around them like a toddler's messy hair. It's very tempting to give them an affectionate ruffle. All beloved vegetables, but [[no gift in sight->Balcony]].It is Pocky's litter box. You are fairly certain the gift isn't in there and [[aren't particularly inclined to look->Balcony]].
Living Room

The walls are fern-green. It's difficult to know for sure: you'd have to remove the [[pressed flowers->Flowers]], [[posters->Posters]] and [[prints of gf's art->Art]] to check.{
(unless:(history:) contains "Living Room")[(click-append:"fern-green")[ (not chartreuse, unfortunately)]]}
There's an upright [[piano->Piano]] by the [[front door->Front door]], flanked by a music stand and topped by a flute case. Next to it, a half-stitched crop top lies ensnared by the [[sewing machine->Sewing machine]].
In the centre of the room, a green couch is trying its best. As daring as couches get in [[IKEA->IKEA]], it's covered in assorted printed cushions to express some sort of personality. Anyhow, it's a very nice location to enjoy [[movies->Movies]] with gf, as well as gf herself. She often cries. (Because of the movies. You're not that bad at kissing anymore.)
There's not really a barrier between here and the dining room, so it would be no trouble to walk there and [[continue your search->Dining Room]].You can't run away!!! Then you won't [[see gf->Living Room]]!!!The piano lid is open, the stand holding sheet music of a piece you're working on together. Whether you were trying to read saxophone sheet music, teaching her how to make a sound on your headjoint or playing the Arpeggione Sonata together, music has always been good excuse for [[red lips->Living Room]].Some evenings, you watch her intently concentrating on a top she thrifted, the needle of the machine moving up and down. Secretly, you [[smile->Living Room]].It was very different going there to actually buy furniture instead of conducting a futile search for places to make out. Carrying the boxes to the car and laughing about your mutual lack of physical strength. Feeling her head on your shoulder as you read the instructions together. Kissing the top of her head as she tightens a screw. [[Perhaps IKEA isn't so homophobic after all->Living Room]].You've come a long way from making out to [[the Lego Batman movie->Living Room]].
Dining Room

Soft purring warmly greets you. On an unrelated note, a [[grey tabby cat->Pocky]] sleeps in an old TV. In the center of the room, wooden [[table->Table]] sits, [[empty->Zucchini]] on the top and sheltering two chairs underneath. The wall behind it is covered with photos of the same two people in [[various locations->Elfany World Tour]].
With no gift in sight, you head towards the [[bedroom door->Bedroom]]."Zzzz," says Pocky.
You say[,]<pause|
(click-replace:?pause)[ nothing. He's sleeping.]
(click-replace:"sleeping")[no longer the skinny little kitten who meowed so quietly at the shelter. Nowadays, when in want of attention, he jumps onto the nearest table and proclaims his various demands. However, even as a big boy, he is still amenable to sitting in your or gf's lap and getting [[petted->Dining Room]]]Yesterday for dinner you ate pasta. You still feel a little scandalised every time she starts peeling away at the zucchini instead of chopping it into slices. Scandalised enough to kiss her on the top of her head as you both scrub the pots afterwards. It's only fair given the mental duress she has just put you under. [[Mwah->Dining Room]]!In {

Hanging proudly in stripes, an orange and pink flag as well as a blue, purple and pink flag keep watch over the [[bed->Bed]]. Their compatriots on sticks sit in the corner, awaiting mobilization at a [[parade->Parade]]. Atop the slightly crinkled sheets, there are [[two dogs->Two dogs]]. One, with its crooked nose, snuggles the other, a deflated log.
On either side of the bed lies a small set of drawers. One has round glasses set on top of it. The other is adorned with [[more rectangular frames->Ring 1]].It's a big double bed. But you've fit in singles before. The bed has never been too small—you've always wanted to get closer to her. Close enough to feel her chest softly expanding and deflating against yours. When you've been further apart, in the quiet moments you can feel the emptiness between your arms. Oh, to hold someone so beautiful so many times. They've been [[spoilt->Bedroom]].When dancing with assorted twinks, drag queens in stilettos and butches with caps on backwards to some brashly happy pop song, you always hold her hand tightly and don't let it go. Here, you can kiss her whenever you want to. [[Which is quite often->Bedroom]].They are in love. [[You know the feeling->Bedroom]].Of course! This would be a good place to hide it. You open the [[top drawer->Ring 2]].Two rings: a hollow circle and tesselated diamonds. [[Not what you're looking for->Ring 3]].The next drawer down is a bit more stubborn and takes more concerted pulling. Eventually, it slides out to reveal small box. You quickly open it just to [[double check->Ring 4]].Sitting upright in the velvet, a ring sparkles conspiratorially. You hear the [[front door->Ring 5]].So much time apart and now you have all the time in the world [[together->Ring 6]].I've loved you for four years, I've told you I love you for two years, I'll love you for the rest of my life. That is to say, I love you a lot alot. <3Touching her leg under the table almost feels nostalgic. Like there should be a cardboard cutout of Allison Plant moving around on a track to [[evade->Dining Room]].Sometimes you check your mailbox and inside is a canvas adorned with gf's latest Procreate creation. At this point you show it to gf so you can see her smile and be happy. Then you send her away to another room so her cute ears are insulated from the sound of you drilling a hole in the wall. After that, you bring her back and let her hang it up. At this point it is customary to reiterate that its siblings are all very cool and good pieces of gf art. That is your professional opinion as a respected art educator, accompanied with a [[big kiss->Living Room]].The posters advertise travel to destinations such as San Junipero, Stardew Valley and Fallen London. There are also depictions of various women: the moon with short silver hair, an Asian woman with bright hair and brighter clothing, and a group of 7 surrounded by occult paraphernalia. At this point, to add more you'd have to start blu-tacking them to the [[ceiling->Living Room]]."I guess we're cottagecore lesbians now," you said as you picked flowers in a field, [[fingers interlaced->Living Room]].Hello lovely, what is the password?
